Chuchuhuasa is a tree native to the Amazon rainforests of South America, particularly Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia. It has been used in traditional medicine by indigenous communities for centuries for its powerful anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and energizing properties. The bark is most commonly used, as it contains a variety of bioactive compounds.
It grows in the lowland regions of the Amazon rainforest. The tree can grow up to 30 meters tall and has reddish-brown bark that is very hard.
It is also commonly used to pickle it in alcohol (called aguardiete). Maceration produces a dark red drink that is popular for its aphrodisiac and energizing properties.
