Muña Muña (Latin Minthostachys mollis) is an aromatic herb native to the Andes in South America, particularly Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador. This plant has been traditionally used by Andean cultures for its medicinal properties, particularly to support breathing, digestion and immunity. It is often called "Andean mint" or "mint cleaner" for its distinctive minty aroma and taste.
It grows in the highlands of the Andes at altitudes of 2,500 to 3,500 meters above sea level. It is a shrub with aromatic leaves and small white or purple flowers, growing up to 1.5 meters tall.
In traditional medicine, it is used for:
- inflammation of the bronchi, upper and lower respiratory tract
- flu, colds, bronchitis, stomach and digestive problems
- joint and muscle pain
- urinary tract infections
- digestive problems (colic, constipation)
Dosage: 1 - 2 tablespoons (approx. 5 grams) per 1 liter of water. Let steep for 5 to 10 minutes and drink warm throughout the day.
