The Legend of Guanyin - Goddess of Mercy

Once upon a time, in a small village in Fujian Province, near a neglected temple dedicated to Guanyin - Goddess of Mercy, there lived a poor farmer. He could not help the temple with donations, but he often visited it to clean and maintain it. One day, while cleaning the temple, he fell asleep and in a dream Guanyin appeared to him and told him about a treasure hidden behind the temple.

The next day, the farmer went to the place that the goddess had revealed to him in his dream and found a small tea plant. He carefully cultivated and protected the plant until it grew into a beautiful tea bush. The tea leaves from this bush had a unique aroma and taste that captivated all who tasted them.

This tea became known as Tie Guan Yin, which translates to "Iron Goddess of Mercy" in honor of the temple deity. The tea has gained popularity among tea connoisseurs and has become one of the most sought-after oolongs in China.
